Below you will find information on how to register, pay for and complete your 2017 AHIP.
What is AHIP?
AHIP (American’s Health Insurance Plans) is a national training program that trains people on Medicare basics, health plans, Part D Rx plans, rules on marketing, enrollment and general compliance. It consists of 6 full training parts with pre-testing and a full 50 question test that requires a 90% score to pass. Once complete a certificate will be provided to share with your Medicare Advantage company validating your basic understanding of the rules.
How much does AHIP Cost?
$175 retail direct to AHIP. Most major Medicare Advantage companies offer a $50 discount taking the out of pocket cost to an agent $125. Some companies offer to reimburse if you sell a certain amount of business.
Does every carrier require AHIP?
No. Some companies have their own training and don’t require AHIP. Some carriers offer AHIP as a portion of their overall training.
How do I send my AHIP to the carrier?
Some carriers link up their credit through their agent portal and link up to AHIP to transfer credit. Other companies require you to submit your copy to the plan.
How do I get a discount for AHIP?
Check with each carrier to see if they offer a discount. Most major plans offer one with specific instructions.
